Dyneema is a fiber made from high molecular weight polyethylene (HPPE). This ultra-strong polyethylene fiber is produced using a unique process that causes the molecules to take on a new parallel orientation, giving the fiber unique properties. This is a synthetic material that combines such properties as resistance to moisture, light weight (does not sink in water), resistance to almost any type of chemicals and ultraviolet rays and incredible strength, exceeding even steel.

Dyneema fibers are several times stronger than all polyamide “PA” (nylon, nylon), polyester “PET” (polyester, lavsan, dacron) and polypropylene “PP” fibers, as well as aramid fibers (Kevlar, Technora, Tvaron) by 30 -45%. Dyneema has very low elongation (less than 1.5%).

Due to the above properties, Dyneema materials have found wide application in various fields:

aviation and military equipment are used for the production of body armor, creating a protective layer of the hull in modern tanks, airplanes, helicopters, armoring limousines, as well as for the production of lines for paragliders and kites;
synthetic cables with a Dyneema core are used as halyards and shrouds in the equipment of sailing ships and yachts;
in industrial fishing for making nets, in sports and amateur fishing for spinning fishing, in underwater hunting – tench for a harpoon;
Off-road enthusiasts (jeepers) are increasingly winding the winches of their SUVs with Dyneema cables instead of steel, because… they are much lighter, yet stronger, and most importantly safer;
in mountaineering for lifting various loads;
for lifting balloons, filming, etc.
Thus, synthetic cables made of Dyneema are the undisputed leader today and, despite the relatively high price, they fully justify it due to their unsurpassed qualities.
